Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai)

A stunning 12-meter golden statue overlooking the northeastern coast. Built in 1972, it’s a major landmark and spiritual center on the island.

 

Wat Plai Laem

This vibrant temple houses an 18‑armed Guanyin statue and is surrounded by a calm lake.

 

Laem Sor Pagoda

Golden pagoda right on the beach in the south of the island.​ Much quieter than northern temples—great for reflection or meditation.

 

Secret Buddha Garden

Hilltop garden filled with mossy stone statues, forest trails, and viewpoints.​ Off the beaten path—4WD recommended or go with a tour.

NATURAL ATTRACTIONS

 

Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park

A breathtaking archipelago of 42 pristine islands offering snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, and hidden lagoons.

 

Na Muang Waterfalls (1 & 2)

Twin waterfalls in the jungle—Na Muang 1 is easily accessible, Na Muang 2 requires a bit of a hike.​ Great spot to swim or relax in the shade.

 

Hin Ta & Hin Yai Rocks

Famous rock formations resembling male and female anatomy.​ A quirky stop near Lamai Beach, with great sea views.

 

Lad Koh Viewpoint

A panoramic lookout on the road between Chaweng and Lamai.​ Ideal for sunrise photos or a quick scenic stop.

Tan Rua Waterfall (Tar Nim Magic Garden)

Often combined with Secret Buddha Garden.​ Small, quiet waterfall with a jungle setting.

BEACHES

 

Chaweng Beach

The island’s liveliest beach: white sand, beach bars, watersports, nightlife.

Lamai Beach

A bit quieter than Chaweng but still lively. Close to Hin Ta & Hin Yai rocks and good for swimming.

Mae Nam Beach

Laid-back, family-friendly, and peaceful. Great for sunset walks and relaxing.

Silver Beach

Small, picturesque cove between Chaweng and Lamai. Great for snorkeling and peaceful swimming.
